This document covers the performance requirements for solid dry film lubricants, air dried, or heat cured for use in aerospace applications. These lubricants are intended to prevent galling, and may be capable of remaining effective for extended periods of time after exposure to extreme environmental conditions.

This standard covers permanent marking intended to be easily and accurately read during the normal service life of the item and also covers temporary marking intended to provide legible identification and/or record of inspection up to the time of initial assembly or use. It defines and controls marking of finished, semi-finished, and rough items but does not attempt to establish identification for raw materials such as bar, tube, plate, sheet, and strip stock.
This SAE Aerospace Standard (AS) specifies the characteristics of the UNJ profile inch series of screw threads, to include a mandatory controlled radius of 0.18042P to 0.15011P at the root of the external thread and with the minor diameter of both external and internal threads increased to provide a basic thread height of 0.5625H in order to accommodate the external thread maximum root radius.
